This Data Protection Notice sets out the basis on which Her Rise Above (“we”, “us”, or “our”) may collect, use, disclose or otherwise process personal data of our customers in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act (“PDPA”).

This Notice applies to personal data in our possession or under our control, including personal data in the possession of organisations which we have engaged to collect, use, disclose or process personal data for our purposes.

We take our responsibilities under Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act (the “PDPA”) seriously. We also recognise the importance of the personal data you have entrusted to us and believe that it is our responsibility to properly manage, protect and process your personal data.

What Data Do We Collect?

Personal data refers to data, whether true or not, about an individual who can be identified from that data; or from that data and other information to which the organisation has or is likely to have access. 

The personal data Her Rise Above may collect and/or hold of individual’s includes but is not limited to the following:

  • Personal details such as name, age and gender

  • Personal contact details such as contact number and email address

  • Information relating to employment application such as employment history, family history

  • Photographs and video recordings during programs or Her Rise Above events

  • Any other information relating to any individuals which you have provided us in any forms you may have submitted to us, or via other forms of interaction with you.

We may receive information about you from third parties if you use any websites or social media platforms operated by third parties (for example, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc.) and, if such functionality is available, you have chosen to link your profile on the Site with your profile on those other websites or social media platforms.

Purpose of Collecting Personal Data and Notification 

Her Rise Above (HRA) may collect and use your personal data mentioned in the section above for:

  • Outreach in relation to our programmes and services;

  • Responding to your queries, feedback, complaints and requests from you;

  • Verifying your identity;

  • Managing the administrative and operations of HRA and complying with internal policies and procedures;

  • Matching any Personal Data held which relates to you for any of the purposes listed herein;

  • Requesting feedback or participation in surveys, as well as conducting market research and/or analysis for statistical, profiling or other purposes for us to review, develop and improve the quality of our programs and services;

  • Monitoring or recording phone calls and face-to-face interactions for quality assurance, employee and volunteer training and performance evaluation and identity verification purposes;

  • In connection with any claims, actions or proceedings (including but not limited to drafting and reviewing documents, transaction documentation, obtaining legal advice, and facilitating dispute resolution), and/or protecting and enforcing our contractual and legal rights and obligations;

  • Conducting investigations relating to disputes, billing or fraud;

  • Meeting or complying with any applicable rules, laws, regulations, codes of practice or guidelines issued by any legal or regulatory bodies which are binding on HRA (including but not limited to responding to regulatory complaints, disclosing to regulatory bodies and conducting audit checks, due diligence and investigations);

  • We may collect, use, disclose or process your personal data for other purposes that do not appear above. However, we will notify you of such other purpose at the time of obtaining your consent, unless processing of your personal data without your consent is permitted by the PDPA or by law.

  • To the extent permitted by law, we may/will also be collecting from sources other than yourself (such as our referral partners), personal data about you, for one or more of the above Purposes, and thereafter using, and/or processing such personal data for one or more of the above Purposes. We may combine information we receive from other sources with information you give to us and information we collect about you. We may use this information and the combined information for the Purposes set out above (depending on the types of information we receive).

In addition to the purposes listed above, HRA collects, uses and discloses your Personal Data for the following purposes:

  • If you are an existing or prospective participant (including an invited volunteer or speaker ) of our courses, events and programmes:

  • assessing and processing any applications or requests made by you for any courses, events and programmes offered by us;

  • creating and maintaining your profile in our system database for internal records and reference;

  • providing customer service and support;

  • facilitating your use of our online portals.

  • taking photograph(s) and/or video(s) of you for

    • internal dissemination within HRA; and

    • generating publicity materials for our courses, events and programmes;

    • facilitating and providing opportunities for networking between yourself and other existing or prospective participants (including invited volunteers or speakers) of our courses, events and programmes and/or;

  • any other purpose reasonably related to the above.

How Do We Store Your Personal Data?

Security of your personal data is important to us. We take appropriate action to protect personal data from loss, misuse, unauthorised access or disclosure, alteration or destruction using the same safeguards as we use for our own proprietary information.

  • Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password which enables you to access certain parts of our Site, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you not to share a password with anyone.

  • If applicable, you undertake to keep your username and password secure and confidential and shall not disclose or permit it to be disclosed to any unauthorised person, and to inform us as soon as reasonably practicable if you know or suspect that someone else knows your username and password or believe the confidentiality of your username and password has been lost, stolen or compromised in any way or that actual or possible unauthorised transactions have taken place.

  • We cannot accept liability for loss of personal data due to cause beyond our control or omissions of other users or third parties.

Data Retention

We will put in place measures such that your personal data in our possession or under our control is destroyed and/or anonymised as soon as it is reasonable to assume that:

  • the purpose for which that personal data was collected is no longer being served by the retention of such personal data; and

  • retention is no longer necessary for any other legal or business purposes.

Obtaining Consent

Her Rise Above will only collect, use, disclose, store and transfer personal data for the above purposes with your consent or as allowed or required by law. 

  • Consent can be given, or deemed to have been given. Expressed consent can be given to us via physical forms or electronically (e.g. through our administrative forms). Your implied consent can be given to us from your action or nature of dealings. For example, remaining in contact with our employees at Her Rise Above or not expressing any unwillingness to be contacted.

  • Should you prefer not to be contacted by Her Rise Above or for your feedback to not be part of our analysis, please contact us to discuss how to proceed.

  • Her Rise Above may use your personal data without consent, should circumstances listed in the Fourth Schedule of the PDPA occur: https://sso.agc.gov.sg/Act/PDPA2012

Withdrawal Of Consent

You may withdraw your consent for the collection, use and/or disclosure of your personal data in our possession or under our control by emailing our Data Protection Officer at dpo@herriseabove.com.

  • We will process your request 48hrs from such a request for withdrawal of consent being made, and will thereafter not collect, use and/or disclose your personal data in the manner stated in your request, unless an exception under the law or a provision in the law permits us to.

Rights

You have the right to access and/or correct any personal data that we hold about you, subject to exceptions under the law. This right can be exercised at any time by emailing our Data Protection Officer at dpo@herriseabove.com. We will need enough information from you in order to ascertain your identity as well as the nature of your request, so as to be able to deal with your request.

  • For a request to access personal data, once we have sufficient information from you to deal with the request, we will seek to provide you with the relevant personal data within 30 days. Where we are unable to respond to you within the said 30 days, we will notify you of the soonest possible time within which we can provide you with the information requested.

  • Note that the PDPA exempts certain types of personal data from being subject to your access request.

  • For a request to correct personal data, once we have sufficient information from you to deal with the request, we will correct your personal data within 30 days. Where we are unable to do so within the said 30 days, we will notify you of the soonest practicable time within which we can make the correction.

  • Note that the PDPA exempts certain types of personal data from being subject to your correction request as well as provides for situation(s) when correction need not be made by us despite your request. We will send the corrected personal data to every other organisation to which the personal data was disclosed by us within a year before the date the correction was made, unless that other organisation does not need the corrected personal data for any legal or business purpose.

  • We hold and deal with your data in accordance with the PDPA.

Complaints

If you have any complaint or grievance regarding about how we are handling your personal data or about how we are complying with the PDPA, we welcome you to contact us with your complaint or grievance.

  • Please contact us with your complaint or grievance by emailing our Data Protection Officer at: dpo@herriseabove.com.

  • Where you are sending an email in which you are submitting a complaint, your indication at the subject header that it is a PDPA complaint would assist us in attending to your complaint speedily by passing it on to the relevant staff in our organisation to handle. For example, you could insert the subject header as “PDPA Complaint”.

  • We will certainly strive to deal with any complaint or grievance that you may have speedily and fairly.

Proprietary information of Her Rise Above and non-disclosure agreement

“Confidential Information” is proprietary information relating to Her Rise Above’s operations including but not limited to: programme and module materials, volunteer contacts, staff contacts, photography, login and password information that if disclosed, could affect the operations of Her Rise Above.

  • Without Her Rise Above’s prior written consent, one is not allowed to: 

    • disclose Confidential Information to any third party; 

    • make or permit to be made copies or other reproductions of Confidential Information; or 

    • make any commercial use of Confidential Information.

General

We review this Privacy Policy regularly and we reserve the right to amend the terms of this Privacy Policy at our discretion. Any amended Privacy Policy will be posted on our website and can be viewed at www.herriseabove.com.

  • You are encouraged to visit the above website from time to time to ensure that you are well informed of our latest policies in relation to personal data protection.

  • Your consent that is given pursuant to this Privacy Policy is additional to and does not supersede any other consents that you had provided to Her Rise Above with regard to processing of your personal data.

  • For the avoidance of doubt, in the event that Singapore personal data protection law permits an organisation such as us to collect, use or disclose your personal data without your consent, such permission granted by the law shall continue to apply.

  • This Data Protection Policy and your use of this website shall be governed in all respects by the laws of Singapore.
